About Karen Lawrence

Karen is a qualified Relate Certified Couple Counsellor and a Relate Registered Counselling Supervisor. She is also a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Supervisor from 2005 and can be found at www.bacp.co.uk.

Karen brings warmth, acceptance and a belief in the client's capacity for psychological healing. She works in a variety of theoretical approaches according to the client's specific needs. Despite Karen's level of expertise, her fees are moderate.

Experience

Karen has more than 16 years experience in counselling individuals, couples including same sex couples and families. This experience includes helping clients to resolve their issues, find solutions, gain insight and have a better understanding of themselves and others.

Karen regularly lectures in counselling at the University of Ulster (Jordanstown) and its affiliated colleges, and is often requested to design and deliver counsellor training for voluntary, public and private sector organisations.

Karen is, due to her extensive experience, often contacted to provide supervision services for relationship counsellors and other counsellors within the helping professions. She holds an Adavanced Diploma in Supervision (Counselling and Psychotherapy).

Qualifications

Karen attained an honours degree in Communication Studies, June 2000 and a Masters of Social Work in July 2003.

Karen is committed to continual personal and professional development and is qualified as a Family Counsellor acquiring a postgraduate Diploma in Systemic Practice. She also holds a postgraduate certificate in sexual addictions.
